The Kapolei Hurricanes blew out the host Radford Rams,  to remain unbeaten in the OIA Red West.

The first quarter dictated the game and the Hurricanes went up big and never looked back.

"That was the game plan. We wanted to jump on Radford early. We noticed they didn't have any big men, minus a football player and another big post player so we wanted to try go at them right from the get-go" said Kapolei head coach Gary Ellison.

The Hurricanes got off to a good start and scored 19 points while limiting the Rams to 6 in the first quarter.

Kapolei's half court defense made shooting difficult for Radford and created turnovers that led to points in transition.

They held Radford to 13 points in the first half.

"We wanted to pick up, especially on defense. The trapping is coming into its own. We don't really get anything from our trapping, but we still depend on our man-to-man defense" said Ellison.

Kapolei's second unit continued to build the lead created by the starters. Dorian Antonio-Martos led the reserves and the entire team in scoring with 12 points and hit two 3-pointers.

Ellison remarked, "The second unit, we're really trying to develop that unit. We know if we have a chance to make the playoffs again, we're going to need them."

Radford's Jordin Pacheco came off the bench and led the Rams with 9 points.

Kapolei hosts Waialua on Saturday 1/11 at 7 pm while Radford travels to take on Campbell on Saturday at the same time.
