The Wolverines have been an offensive juggernaut in the invitational totaling a total of 250 points in four games. No team in the tournament could keep up with Carver as they held their opponents to 37.75 points per game.

That defense was evident against Benson Tech as the Wolverines out-rebounded the Techmen 34 to 20. What was even more outstanding was that 14 of Carver's 34 rebounds came on the offensive side of ball.
 
Carver was determined to attack the paint early as they jumped out to an early 10-3 lead in the first quarter missing their first field goal attempt at the 4:52 mark. The Wolverines aggressiveness led to ten 1st quarter free throw attempts.

Brandon Murphy scored the last 1st quarter points for the Wolverines as he grabbed the offensive rebound and put it back in, getting fouled in the process. Murphy would complete the 3-point play and Carver led 19-7 after the first eight minutes of play.

Benson Tech came out of the break strong as they started the second quarter on a 6-0 run. Shylo Joseph scored the first points of the 2nd quarter with a nice drop-step post move. Joseph was the leading scorer for the Techmen scoring 10 points off the bench.

Joseph wasn't the only Techmen doing work for Benson Tech as Frank Norman was able to drive to the hoop for four 2nd quarter points. Two of those points came on a wild reverse lay-up circus shot that bounced high off the glass and found its way to the hoop to make the score 23-19.

Despite Benson Tech starting the 2nd quarter strong, it was all G.W. Carver as they closed out the quarter with a 12-0 run. Demetrius Houston scored 8 points in the period for the Wolverines, with two of those points coming in impressive fashion.

Carver would get the last shot of the quarter as leading scorer Jeremy Johnson attempted a jumper from three-point land. No one boxed out starting point guard Zach Rumph as he got the offensive rebound with 1.6 seconds remaining in the half and threw up a turnaround jumper. The shot attempt would rattle off the rim but Houston was there with the put back dunk just before the game clock hit all zeros.

The Wolverines led the Techmen 35-19 at halftime.

Johnson would not let Benson Tech come back in the game as he scored 10 3rd quarter points to preserve the lead for the Wolverines. He finished the game with 24 points.

Going into the final period Carver had a commanding lead 51-31.

With the game well decided, things got real chippy early as double technicals were issued early in the 4th. Cooler heads would prevail as Carver defeated Benson Tech 61-41 to win the Punahou Invitational.
