Souza to retire as Kamehameha AD

Kanani Souza announced his retirement as Kamehameha Schools athletic director effective July 31, according to a school press release.

Souza, a 1963 Kamehameha graduate, has been the Warriors' AD the past five years after serving as football head coach and assistant/associate athletic director the previous 10 years.

"I would like to thank Kamehameha, in particular principal Julian Ako and headmaster Dr. Michael Chun, for providing me with an opportunity to serve Kamehameha and to be a part of our beloved benefactor Bernice Pauahi Bishop's mission to produce industrious young men and women," Souza said through the school release. "It has been an honor and a privilege to work with all the student-athletes, faculty and staff of Kamehameha, especially the coaches and athletic department staff. It has been a great experience and I feel very blessed."

According to the press release, a search for his successor will begin immediately.
