Kailua sent 11 batters to the plate in a seven-run bottom of the fourth inning to pull away from visiting Kalani, 13-3, in an Oahu Interscholastic Association Division I East game Saturday afternoon.

The game was called after the top half of the fifth inning due to the 10-run differential mercy rule.

Leadoff batter Kaimana Burgo had a two-run single that was part of the Surfriders' big fourth inning. They put together four base hits, including a run-scoring double by Zayne Hookala, and took advantage of three hit batsmen and a walk in the frame.

Kailua scored six of their runs in the fourth with two outs. The Surfriders (1-1) drew seven walks and struck out just twice against Kalani pitching. Sage Toko and Jiro Ishigo each worked a pair of walks; Tokoro also singled and scored twice. Ale Kuhaulua (2 for 2, walk, RBI) and Masao Minami (1 for 3) each scored twice in the win.

Jayden Hunt scattered three hits over four innings to get the win. He struck out three and walked none; both of the runs he allowed were unearned.

Cameron Kobayashi took the loss for the Falcons (1-1). He gave up six runs, four of them earned, on two hits. Kobayashi issued five walks and struck out one in two innings of work.

Micah Friel (2 for 3, double, RBI, run) was the lone Kalani player to pair hits.

Kalani will visit first-place Moanalua (2-0) Wednesday, while Kailua next plays Saturday at Castle (0-1).
