EWA BEACH - Taryn Irimata fired a two-hitter and No. 2 Campbell downed No. 1 Waianae, 7-0, Saturday in Oahu Interscholastic Association Division I West softball at the Sabers' field.

Irimata (3-0) took a no-hitter into the top of the seventh when Moani Ioane spoiled the bid with a single to right. Two outs later, Braiesey Rosa lined a single to left and Kehaulani Tambaoan-Kaea walked to load the bases. But Iritmata preserved her shutout by striking out former Saber Kaylisa-James Nakoa to end the game.

Prior to the seventh, Irimata allowed only two base runners: one in the first on an error and a walk in the fifth. No runner had reached second until the seventh.

It was the halfway point of the season for the Seariders (4-1), who fell to second place, a half-game behind the Sabers (4-0), who visit Mililani Tuesday.

Kaiana Kong led the Sabers attack with a 3-for-3 performance and three RBI. Her two-run double in the second gave Campbell a 2-0 lead. Those were the last earned runs surrendered by Waianae starting pitcher Jerzie Liana (4-1). Five errors accounted for five unearned runs, one in the third inning and four in the sixth. Liana went six innings, allowing seven hits, two walks with two strikeouts.

Nanea Pantastico batted 2 for 4 with a two-run double for Campbell.

Although it was the fourth game of the season for the Sabers, they celebrated senior day after the game. Two of the Sabers' remaining home games will be televised from McKinley. Waianae resumes play next Saturday against Mililani in a televised game at McKinley. Game time is 7 p.m. Waianae beat Mililani, 11-5, in their first meeting at Mililani.
