Jefferson holds off Mount Vernon to advance

Jefferson (Portland, Oregon) topped Mount Vernon (New York), 65-57 in the nightcap of the Iolani Classic quarterfinals.

The Democrats advance to face Oak Hill for the final game of Friday's semifinals led by Kamron Robinson's 20 points. Lamar Washington contributed 14 points and was 8 for 11 from the free throw line and Nate Rawlins-Kibonge had 10 points.

After a tightly contested first quarter, the Democrats pulled away late in the second quarter outscoring Mount Vernon, 22 to 11 to take a 32-20 lead over the Knights at halftime.

Mount Vernon whittled the deficit all the way down to three early in the fourth quarter, but Jefferson started pulling away around the 3 minute mark to seal the win.

Troy Hupstead had 18 points and Xavier Ruillano had 13 in the loss for the Knights who face Kalani in the 3:30 p.m. game.


Long Island Lutheran 66, Garfield 63

Long Island Lutheran (Brookeville, New York) held off Garfield (Seattle, Washington), 66-63.

Andre Curbelo scored a team-high 15 points, Rafael Pinzon (14), Kacper Klaczek (11), and Zed Key (10) to lead the Crusaders into the semifinal round.

Tari Eason led the Bulldogs with a game-high 24 points and Koren Johnson chipped in 15 and three 3-pointers in the loss.

Wasatch Academy 89, Archbishop Wood 77

Wasatch Academy (Mt. Pleasant, Utah) pulled away from Archbishop Wood (Warminster, Pennsylvania), 89-77 to reach the semifinal round to take on Long Island Lutheran.

The Tigers led by double digits for most of the game but the Vikings climbed back and cut into the deficit until Wasatch pulled away late in the fourth quarter.

Caleb Lohner scored a team-high 29 points, three 3's and was 6 for 7 from the free throw line for the Tigers. Richie Saunders added 17, Mike Saunders with 15, and Leonardo Colimerio rounded out the double digit scorers with 13.

Rahsool Diggins led all scorers with 33 points and six 3's in the loss. Jaylen Stinson had 19 and Marcus Randolp scored 16 as the Vikings face Archbishop Wood.

Oak Hill 105, Kalani 28

Oak Hill (Mouth of Wilson, Virginia) dominated from start to finish to trounce Kalani, 105-28.

The Warriors put on a layup clinic and built a 62-15 lead at halftime as six Oak Hill players scored in double figures led by Cam Thomas' 31. Darrick Jones, Jr. (17), Jalen Ricks (13), Bradley Ezewiro (12), Jamari Sibley (11) and Darius Maddox (10) rounded out the scoring onslaught.

Brandon Chung led the Falcons with 12 in the loss.
