Raiders, Menes to meet in Division I semis


 



It will be Iolani against Moanalua in the semifinals of the New City Nissan Division I Boys Volleyball Championships.

Both the Raiders and Na Menehune swept their respective opponents Thursday night at McKinley's Student Council Gymnasium in the quarterfinals of the 12-team tournament to advance to the final four. First serve between the two teams is slated Friday at 5 p.m. on Moanalua's home court.

Iolani, the Interscholastic League of Honolulu runner-up, took care of third-seeded and Maui Interscholastic League champ Kamehameha-Maui in straight sets, 25-21, 25-17, 25-16. Future University of Hawaii Rainbow Warrior Cole Hogland put down a match-high 14 kills on 19 attempts with seven aces to lead the Raiders in the straight set win.

Third-seeded Moanalua, the Oahu Interscholastic Association champion, saw Kainoa Ferguson rack up 11 kills, five blocks and three aces to lead Na Menehune in a 25-15, 25-21, 25-9 victory over Kamehameha-Hawaii.
