Three players recorded double-digit kills as host Iolani swept visiting Kapolei, 25-17, 25-9, 25-21, at Iolani's Lower Gymnasium in the opening round of the New City Nissan Division I Boys Volleyball Championships Monday night.
Kawika Lee had 12 kills, Cole Hogland added 11 and Ryan Van Cantfort chipped in 10 as the Raiders, the Interscholastic League of Honolulu runner-up, advances to face Kamehameha-Maui, the Maui Interscholastic League champ and third-seeded team in the tourney, Thursday night at McKinley's Student Council Gymnasium. First serve is slated for 5:00 p.m.
Ezra Lono-Soares had seven kills and David Salima added six kills with eight digs to lead the Hurricanes in their season-ending loss.
