Kaiser used a big second quarter to fend off visiting Aiea, 53-47, in a preseason contest Wednesday night.

The Cougars, who lost All-Hawaii selections Chance Kalaugher and Keoua Mahiko to graduation, outscored Na Alii, 16 to 4, in the second stanza to take a 34-21 lead at the half.

Aiea outscored Kaiser, 26 to 19, after the break, but the early deficit was too large to overcome and the Cougars held on for the win.

Cyrus Singleman scored 13 points, Brandon Yasue added eight and Shaun Kim chipped in seven more to lead the Cougars in their non-league win.

Kayson Goines had eight points to lead Na Alii in the loss.
