Defending champion Mariel Galdiano, of Punahou, is among a trio of players tied for the lead after the first round of the David S. Ishii Foundation/Hawaii High School Athletic Association Girls Golf State Championships at the Waikoloa Kings' course Monday.
Galdiano, along with Maryknoll's Allysha Mae Mateo and Mililani's Mari Nishiura, shot even par, 72, to sit atop the leaderboard in the 36-hole tournament. Kaiser's Malia Nam and Iolani's Rose Huang are one shot back of the lead. Punahou teammates Aiko Leong and Allisen Corpuz are two shots back at two-over par.
The Buffanblu lead the team standings with 220 strokes (+4). Iolani is second with 228 (+12), Kaiser third at 235 (+19), Mililani fourth with 237 (+21) and Mid-Pacific fifth at 240 (+24).
The final round begins at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday with double tees in use. Galdiano, Mateo and Nishiura will be in the final group off the first tee at 9 a.m.
