Honoring the best

We've been working hard at this one and we're pretty darn proud about it.

For the first time, our ScoringLive staff collaborated on an All-Hawaii football team. We picked first and second teams, as well as on offensive and defensive player of the year and coach of the year for both Division I and Division II for the 2013 football season. We've spent the last few weeks analyzing stats, looking over game tapes and talking to coaches as well as other people in the know to put together what we feel is the best representation of the cream of the crop on the gridiron last Fall.

As a sportswriter — and a fan of the game — it was another fun season to cover. There was certainly no shortage of spectacular athletes to watch, which made this all the more difficult.

A special thanks goes out to all our readers and supporters, but especially to the players — who week in and week out laid it all out on the line in the games that we all loved to take in. They worked tirelessly on the practice field and in the classroom to best represent their schools, communities and families and should be applauded.

Congratulations to all the honorees.
