CAMP: Team 7 hitsWAIP: Tali Viliamu run 3 rbi HR
In the second OIA Red softall semifinal at Central Oahu Regional Park, Campbell rallied for 5 runs in a big sixth inning to tip Waipahu, 6-3, setting up a rematch of last year's championship game with Kapolei.
Summer Palipti settled down after giving up a three-run home run off the bat of Nala Viliamu in the top of the first inning, holding the Marauders off the board the rest of the way, scattering seven hits in a complete game victory.
Afer Kawehi Kahana came in to score on a wild pitch to trim the margin to 3-2, freshman Cydney Curran hit a clutch one-out double to left center field that scored Kiana Ulufale and Jessica Arata with the tying and go-ahead runs.
A sacrifice bunt brought Curran home from third, after a Chardonnay Pantastico infield single moved Curran over from second.
Palipti then stepped up and roped a triple to deep left field, scoring Pantastico.
Campbell sent nine batters to the plate in the decisive sixth inning rally.
Faced with a three-run defciit, Waipahu led off the inning with a Laugatausala Pedebone single to center, but Palipti came right back with a strikeout on the next batter, and a force at second left the Marauders just one more out to work with.
Nala Viliamu continued to swing the hot bat, push a line shot back up the box to put the winning run at the plate in starting pitcher Tali Viliamu.
A liner to left field by Tali Viliamu looked poised to drop in front of Pantastico in right field, but the speedy outfielder sprinted to make a lunging grab that ended the threat and the game.
