Gretchen Morrison scored a game-high 19 points -- including the go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:15 remaining in overtime -- Saturday night to help Southlake (Texas) Carroll rally past 'Iolani, 50-49, to take third place in the Sixth Annual 'Iolani Girls Prep Classic.

Carroll went 31-4 last season and finished the year ranked No. 2 in the state, but 'Iolani took an 11-10 lead on Jade Botelho's bank shot near the end of the first period and went up, 37-30, after a 3-pointer by Abrianna Johnson-Edwards with 1:14 remaining in the third.

Kennedy Leonard then hit a 3-pointer to close it to 37-33 entering the fourth, and Morrison hit back-to-back 3-pointers to put the Lady Dragons ahead, 39-38, with 4:49 left. The Raiders grabbed the lead back at 43-41 on Pua Kahalehoe's 3-pointer with 2:22 remaining, but Leonard hit a bank shot to tie it at 43-43 at the 1:06 mark.

'Iolani had a final possession but missed two shots from close range at the end of regulation.

Alex Masaquel hit a 12-foot jumper from just inside the free throw line 16 seconds into overtime to give the Raiders a brief 45-43 lead, but Carroll tied it again 30 seconds later after two free throws by Rebecca Gordon and took the lead for good on yet another 3-pointer by Morrison -- her fifth of the game -- to make it 48-45 with 1:15 left.

Klein Masutani hit a pair of free throws with 28 seconds remaining to close it to 48-47, but Leonard converted both ends of a 1-and-1 seven seconds later to push the lead back to 50-47. 'Iolani could not get off a 3-pointer on its final possession and had to settle for Botelho's 10-foot jumper at the buzzer.

"We had a chance at the end, and that's all you can ask," Raiders coach Eddie Maruyama said. "For the most part, we took care of the ball and executed."

Carroll coach Terri Morrison said switching to a double low post offense helped squeeze 'Iolani's defense just enough to open things up on the perimeter, enabling the Lady Dragons to shoot their way back into the lead.

"It was my coaching blunder not to do that sooner," Morrison said.

Morrison, who has 551 victories in a 29-year career, said she was impressed by what she saw from Maryknoll and 'Iolani this week.

"Both teams are very well-coached and never give up," Morrison said. "They're extremely competitive, and they're unselfish, they share the ball. If they play like that, they would beat a lot of teams (in Texas)."

Leonard, a 5-foot-8 sophomore guard, finished with 13 points, including three 3-pointers. Masaquel led the Raiders with 18 points and Johnson-Edwards added 13 points.

Fifth place: Maryknoll 58, Jin Ling (Nan Jing, China) 43

Siena Shupe scored 10 points to help the Spartans take fifth place. Siyu Chen scored a game-high 11 points to lead Jin Lang.

Seventh place: Lahainaluna 56, Moanalua 45

Loke Basques scored 14 points and Aloha Salem and Petiola Tuakoi each added 11 points to help the Lunas claim seventh place.

Lachae McColor and Hokulani Mateo each scored 13 points to lead Na Menehune.
