Punahou to host John R. Wooden Course Basketball Camp

Punahou School will host the John R. Wooden Course Basketball Camp for boys and girls ages 6-18 this summer, the first time the Course will be offered in Hawai'i.

The day camp will be held June 6-9, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hemmeter Fieldhouse on the Punahou campus.

Coach Craig Impelman, former assistant basketball coach at UCLA and senior partner of the John Wooden Course, leads the camp with the assistance of Punahou varsity coaches Darren Matsuda and Kekoa Taliaferro.

Cost to attend is $200 per student. Registration forms are available at www.punahou.edu/athletics. For more information, please contact the Punahou Athletics Office at 808.944.5816.

Course participants will receive individual skills training and evaluation within a well-developed curriculum adopted from the philosophy of legendary UCLA basketball coach, John Robert Wooden.

Impelman has been teaching the "Wooden Way" for more than 30 years, applying Wooden's emphasis on team culture and fundamental skills to his work with basketball players of all levels. The Course also covers off-court behavior as exemplified in the John Wooden philosophy value training.
