Klink named Gatorade Hawaii Boys Soccer Player of the Year


Kalani's Leo Klink was named the 2011-12 Gatorade Hawaii Boys Soccer Player of the Year, according to a press release issued by the Gatorade Company.

The award recognizes outstanding athletic excellence, as well as high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character on and off the field.

The 5-foot-10 forward scored 25 goals and added five assists in his junior year, helping lead the Falcons to a runner-up finish in the HHSAA Division I state tournament. He was also named the OIA East Player of the Year.

The Gatorade Player of the Year program recognizes one winner in each of the 50 states as well as the District of Columbia, in high school football, girls volleyball, cross country, basketball, soccer, baseball, softball and track and field.
