Punahou Invitational tips off Wednesday


Punahou School hosts its Boys Basketball Invitational Dec. 21-23, 2011, featuring defending Division II state champion Farrington, as well Kahuku and Kalaheo from the OIA. Maryknoll and host Punahou out of the ILH round out the field of local contenders.

Visiting teams are Walnut Grove Secondary School in British Columbia and Trinity Grammar School in Australia.

All games, with the exception of the championship game, will be held at Punahou's Hemmeter Fieldhouse. Tickets at the door are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $3 for students.

The championship game will be held at Stan Sheriff Center on the campus of the University of Hawai'i at Manoa on Dec. 23 at 2:45 p.m.

Admission to the championship game is free.

Here's the schedule for the three-day tournament:

December 21, Wednesday
Punahou II vs. Trinity Secondary - 3:00 p.m.
Maryknoll vs. Farrington - 4:30 p.m.
Kalaheo vs. Kahuku - 6:00 p.m.
Punahou vs. Walnut Grove - 7:30 p.m.

December 22, Thursday
Loser Game 1 vs. Loser Game 2 - 1:30 p.m.
Loser Game 4 vs. Loser Game 3 - 3:00 p.m.
Three-point contest - 4:30 p.m.
Slam dunk contest - 5:15 p.m.
Winner Game 1 vs. Winner Game 2 - 6:00 p.m.
Winner Game 4 vs. Winner Game 3 - 7:30 p.m.

December 23, Friday
7th place: Loser Game 5 vs. Loser Game 6 - 9:00 a.m.
Consolation: Winner Game 5 vs. Winner Game 6 - 10:30 a.m.
3rd place: Loser Game 7 vs. Loser Game 8 - 12:00 p.m.
Championship: Winner Game 7 vs. Winner Game 8 - 2:30 p.m. (Stan Sheriff Center)
