It will be the reigning champion versus the top-seeded team in the tournament in the semifinals of the Wally Yonamine Foundation Division II Baseball Championships.

Damien and Waipahu both earned quarterfinal wins at Radford's Donald M. Kimura Field Wednesday afternoon and will square off against each other in the second semifinal at Les Murakami Stadium. First pitch is expected to be thrown at 1 p.m.

The Monarchs made their way into the next round by virture of a 7-2 win over fourth-seeded Molokai. Damien, who is unseeded in the tournament because it is the only team in the ILH that is classified as a Division II school, benefitted from eight total walks in the win.

Jamieson Pabalan earned the pitching win for the Monarchs in 4 2/3 innings. He allowed just four hits, struck out three and was tag for two unearned runs on just 57 pitches, which means he is eligible to pitch on Friday.

Aaron Rapoza earned the save after he came over from shortstop to relieve Pabalan when the Farmers made it a 4-2 game after the fifth inning. He got the final seven outs of the game with 31 pitches, allowing two hits and one walk while striking out two.

Damien scored most of its runs in unconventional ways. Its first run scored on a balk and another run in the top of the first came home on a passed ball. The Monarchs added one run in the top of the second when the runner crossed home plate before Molokai could get the final out on a run down. Damien also scored on a wild pitch and a squeeze bunt in the final inning.

Molokai starter Solomon Kikukawa-Teriong allowed three walks on 13 pitches against the first three batters he faced before giving way to Hoolei Arce, who pitched 6 2/3 innings before giving way to Heath Lopez to close out the top of the seventh.

Miken Loo went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Farmers in the loss.

The Marauders, the winners of the OIA, made their way into the semifinals by virtue of a 4-0 win over Konawaena, the BIIF runner-up.

Ace Phoenix Torres was at the forefront of Waipahu's victory with a no-hitter through six innings before Trez Uemoto and Maika Akamu dialed back-to-back singles.

Donnie Miller came into the game after that and recorded the final three outs to pick up the save.

Torres, Miller, Kadence Barcenilla and Danen Nishimura all recorded a hit and scored a run for the Marauders.
