HHSAA announces Hall of Honor class of 2019




Twelve student-athletes from 11 different schools, including the very first from Lanai, make up the 2019 class of the Enterprise Rent-A-Car/Hawaii High School Athletic Association Hall of Honor.

The group — made up of seven boys and five girls — was chosen from amongst a group of 46 applicants by a 14-person selection committee made up of current and former sports reporters, coaches and athletic directors. Each individual will receive a $2,000 scholarship courtesy of Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

The induction class is as follows:

• Naighel Calderon, Lanai (football, basketball, baseball)

• Duke Clemens, Punahou (football, basketball, baseball, track and field)

• Kelani Corbett, Leilehua (wrestling, judo)

• Kiran Costa, Kapaa (soccer, volleyball, football)

• Sunshine Fontes, Pearl City (soccer)

• Dillon Gabriel, Mililani (football)

• Ashley Gooman, Kamehameha (wrestling)
• Mikayla Kekoa, Kohala (volleyball, basketball, softball)

• Kameron Ng, Saint Francis (basketball, volleyball)

• Kalina Obrey, Kamehameha (basketball, volleyball)

• Faatui Tuitele, Saint Louis (football)

• Noah Wusstig, Moanalua (judo, wrestling)

The class will be inducted at an awards dinner on Sunday, June 2, 5 p.m. at the Pomaikai Ballrooms.

It is the 38th consecutive year the Hall of Honor has recognized the top twelve senior student-athletes in the state. A complete list of inductees, dating back to the inaugural class of 1983, can be found here.
