WAILUKU, Maui – Pearl City cashed in on four errors to down fourth-seeded Waiakea, 4-2, in Thursday's quarterfinals of the Wally Yonamine Foundation Division I baseball tournament at Iron Maehara Stadium.

The No. 5 Chargers (16-1) advance to Friday's semifinals at 4:15 p.m. against the winner of top-seeded Mid-Pacific and Mililani.

Carson Okada pitched a complete game for the Chargers, allowing two runs, six hits and a walk with one strikeout.

Waiakea (15-3) committed four errors that led to three unearned runs. Starter David Nakamura was charged with two runs, both unearned and two hits, but walked four, while striking out one in four innings. Makoa Andres pitched the final three innings, allowing two runs, one earned, and four hits with one strikeout.

Pearl City scored in the second when it had runners at first and second with one out when Matt Aribal reached on a two-base fielding error by first baseman Shaun Kurosawa, allowing a run to score.

The Chargers added another unearned run in the third when Yokota reached on a two-base fielding error by left fielder Garrick Yokoe. After stealing third base, Yokota scored when Trestan Nakamura grounded out to second to make it 2-0.

Pearl City got another unearned run in the fifth when with the bases loaded, Caleb Nishijo reached on catcher's interference.

Waiakea got a run back in the bottom of the fifth on Andres' sacrifice fly to left. The Warriors pulled to within one in the bottom of the sixth when Gehrig Octavio grounded out to second with runners at second and third.

But Pearl City insured its lead in the top of the seventh. Christian Onomura led off with a double and moved to third two outs later. After Aribal was hit by a pitch, pinch hitter Trenton Darley singled home pinch runner Ernest-Joshua Kam to make it 4-2.

The Warriors threatened in the bottom of the seventh when Andres and pinch hitter Jacob Igawa hit back-to-back singles to put runners at first and second. Courtesy runner Lester Iwata was caught leaning the wrong way and pitcher Okada got him caught in a rundown. After Iwata was tagged out, Igawa was caught trying for second to end the game.
