Four tied for the lead after first day of boys state golf


A pair of Punahou teammates are among a group of four tied for the lead after the first day of the David S. Ishii Foundation/Hawaii High School Athletic Association Boys Golf State Championships at the Waikoloa Kings' Course Thursday.

Buffanblu teammates Colin Laszlo and Andrew Ching, along with Baldwin's Tyler Munetake and Kamehameha's Spencer Dunaway, each shot a two-under par 70 to lead the field. Iolani's Kengo Aoshima, Kailua's Caleb Keohokapu and Moanalua's Kyosuke Hara are a stroke behind, while Kauai's Jamie Amimoto sits two strokes back of the lead.

Punahou, which has won four of the last five state titles, including the last two, leads Moanalua by eight strokes in the team standings. Baldwin is 11 strokes back, while Kauai is 14 behind the Buffanblu.

The second and final round gets underway at 7:30 a.m. Friday.
