Miller Grove (Lithonia, Ga.) gave the visitors from Liaoning, China all they could handle as the Wolverines routed Fuxin New Star, 96-22 in the opening round of the 31st annual Iolani Classic boys tournament Tuesday evening.

Leading the way for the boys from the Peach State was 6-foot-8 center Lamont West with a game-high 21 points on 10-for-12 shooting. West also added six rebounds, four steals and two assists.

Other contributors in the Wolverines' victory were Raylon Richardson (12 points, four steals) and reserves Devonta Brittian (14 points, eight steals) and Daeshon Street (13 points on 6-for-7 shooting).

Miller Grove's full court defense proved problematic for Fuxin New Star. The Wolverines were able to accumulate 41 total steals in the contest. The high on intensity on defense helped Miller Grove open up the game on a 15-0 run.

The Wolverines also won the rebounding battle, 32-13, and converted on 56.9 percent of their shot attempts.

Leading Fuxin New Star in the loss was 6-foot-8 Baiqing Zhao with 19 points on 7-for-9 shooting. Zhao also added five rebounds and two blocked shots.

Miller Grove will face the winner between Kaiser and Orange Lutheran (Orange, Calif.) on Thursday in the first quarterfinal at 3:30 p.m.
