Led by Joe Hoddick's fourteen kills, Kaiser coasted to a straight set victory over Roosevelt, 25-12, 25-14, 25-12, in an opening round game of the New City Nissan/HHSAA Division I Boys Volleyball Championships held at McKinley's Student Council Gymnasium.

Cougars also benefitted from seven services aces from outside hitter Casey Bolda, who also put down 9 kills. Setter Riker Kasamoto had 32 assists.

Rusty Vincent led the Rough Riders with 6 kills in the loss.

Up next for Kaiser is a quarterfinal matchup with fourth seed and MIL champ Baldwin in a 5:00 p.m. quarterfinal back at McKinley.
